Prom King and Queen through the decades

So if you haven't taken 30 minutes and tried out www.yearbookyourself.com, you totally should. it's good for a laugh and it makes you very glad that you graduated in the fashion that you did...some of these pictures are hideous. I thought it would be funny to do all of the years available and then choose a prom king and queen picture for David and I for each decade. So we begin in the 50's...

This is David and Kim in 1950. Got to love the hair and clothes. Moving on to the 60's now...I think we look like our parents...

Aren't we just the dreamiest couple? Now for the 70's. The pictures you've been waiting for...

You guessed it. Fro city. And now for some real fashion. 80's here we come.

Don't you just love the gery curl? Scary to think that this is the decade we were born in...glad the poodle perm is no longer in style... 1990's:

Scary isn't it...Business in the front, party in the back. And now for 2000!

And there you have it. 5 decades of David and Kim. You know you want to go right now to that website and giggle while you find the many different decades of you! Have fun! But before you go, here's a picture of what we really look like, just so you don't have these scary images burned into your mind:)

My Hubby, the talented photographer

So I thought I would brag a little bit about my amazing husband and his incredible talent. He has started in the past 6 months, really taking pictures just for the sheer enjoyment of doing so. He's got an amazing knack for composition and is very good about finding just the right moment to take a picture. I am so tickled to post some of my faves on here so you can see how fabulous he is. I'll try to comment on the photos and let you know exactly what you're seeing, but if you really want to see his stuff, he has a flickr account as well! the link is:

Here are a few that I really enjoy. Hope you like them too!

This is Sylvester. He's David's Family cat. I like the fact that the cat is looking directly into the camera and he looks so seriously. HE was just sitting there on the railing at the top of the stairs waiting to be photographed.

This is the view from the boardwalk at Ocean City New Jersey. We go there almost once a year for a family reunion and this year it was beautiful!

If it wasn't for this stupid million dollar sign this would be such a great picture. I definitely love it anyway. Richmond is such a great place to live and the skyline is fabulous!

Here's another lovely picture of the skyline from Bell Isle. This is right across the street from Tredegar Iron Works as well as the Dominion Building.

This is my most precious grandfather by marriage. David's father's dad. This was father's day this past year in Northern VA. He will be 94 this year and he and his wife just celebrated their 68 wedding anniversary!

My classroom

SO here are some pictures of this year's classroom at Salem Church Elementary. This will be my 3rd year teaching elementary school music and I'm really enjoying myself this year. I raised enough money with the DVD sale last year to have one of my walls muraled, which you will see in the photos. It's working out quite well right now and should continue to do so until I have some strange child fly off the back of my risers. More posts to come with pictures of BTSR and the campus where we live. Thanks for being the people that love us!

If you can't read it, it's basically a credit card commercial: "A rented violin: $80.00", "a song on itunes: .99" The joy of Making Music: Priceless

My muraled wall. With some really great characatures of composers, the work music and off to the right, a piano keyboard.

My wall of instrument posters, classroom instruments and floating music notes.

My desk

Well, Here we are.

SO here it is. The moment you've all been waiting for. Well, at least the moment I've been waiting for. The ability to type out what's been happening to us in the past year and not have to tell the same story 50 million times. I'll give you the Reader's Digest version so I can catch everyone up to speed with the life and times of Mr and Mrs Hassmer. Here goes:

David and Kim get married
David and Kim move in to a wonderful apt. in Midlothian VA

David and Kim get used to being married and adjust fairly well to married life

David applies for Grad School at Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond

David gets accepted to grad school!

David and Kim get accepted to live on campus in a dorm apartment at BTSR

David and Kim move for a 2nd time in 1 year to campus into an apartment 1/2 the size of their first home

David and Kim muddle through the next 3 months

David and Kim move upstairs (3rd move in less than a year) to a bigger apartment where they celebrate their 1st anniversary!

David starts his first year of grad school, Kim starts her 3rd year of teaching school.

Now we're at today. I know that's a lot to take in. Trust me. So here are some pictures that might help you visualize our wonderful 3rd apartment and where we are now. We live at 1207 Palmyra Ave if you ever want to come and visit!

David in our kitchen:)

Our donated furniture

And just for those of you that get a kick out us, like our moms, here is our silly story for the evening. Tonight, David and I could not figure out for the life of us what smelled like it had died when we sat on the corner of our couch. We were half expecting to pull out a half eaten french fry from between the cushions. After we moved the coffee table, smelled the arm rest repeatedly, turned on the madlight and reached between the pillows we discovered it. Turns out the hush puppies that David had gotten me a week and a half ago were still in the ziploc baggy in between the cushion and the arm rest. Gotta love that air tight seal:) More silliness and pictures to come. We love yal:)
